Women in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to drive, while driving equally licensed licenses for men and women are also allowed. According to the foreign news agency, the Saudi government issued a royal decree through the official media in which women allow driving, while it was said that women would be allowed to drive according to Islamic laws while driving rules, equally driving licenses will be issued for men and women. Saudi King Salman, bin Abdul Aziz has been directed to amend traffic rules in the royal decree while this order name will be promptly enforced but the application will take a month and a committee of high level ministers will be formed to review the arrangement to implement this order. On the other hand, the US Department of State has welcomed the Saudi government’s move, In a Washington-based statement; the State Department said that it is the right step towards the right direction. It is clear that Saudi Arabia has banned women’s driving since 1990 however, this ban was not officially imposed, nor was it a part of the law but the driving license was not issued to women. And special campaign was also being run for women’s permission to drive.
