Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, the Chinese president said the 70-year-old war was an indication that our nation would always be ready to face any test near the borders. He said China was a major power and could not be intimidated by US threats. He presented the historical perspectives and consequences of the Korean War to his people and his international audience. He clarified that even today, China is engaged in establishing foreign relations alone, protecting the country’s industrial production from external influences and asserting its utmost superiority. Xi Jinping said the Chinese people do not like to raise issues and are not afraid to face difficult times. The ceremony comes at a time when the Shi’ite administration is embroiled in a series of disputes with the Trump administration. Trade, technology, human rights and Taiwan’s sovereignty are prominent in these contentious issues, which are also the subject of fierce verbal battles between the parties. Tensions between the two countries have risen sharply in recent days as the United States raises its stance on Taiwan.
