Thousands of Uighur Muslims in China are being forced to change their minds

News Time

There are reports coming from Western media today that show that thousands of Uyghurs Muslims in China are being forced to change their mind. It is also alleged that some of the hardest prisons have been set up in China where not only Chinese Muslims but other prisoners are also detained. In response to these Western media allegations, China stands to have such centers operating in Xingjiang, China’s western region, where Muslims are voluntarily provided with education and training. Let’s see what the problem.

Xingjiang, called Shinjak in Arabic, is a river in the northwestern region of China that is called autonomous in Chinese official documents. Xingjiang is the largest in China’s total of 33 provinces, with an area of over one million square kilometers, followed by Tibet and Inner Mongolia. Thus, these three provinces alone constitute 42% of China’s total area. Xingjiang has a population of only two million, while Tibet has a population of only 3 million and Inner Mongolia two and a half million. Thus, the population of these three largest provinces is less than 500 million, that is, 42 percent of China’s population is only three, three and a half percent. But the problem with Xingjiang is that there were only Uighur Muslims once settled here, but gradually in the last 70 years, Chinese have been brought here from other parts of China, Because of this, less than half of the two million people in Xingjiang now live, hardly a million.

China’s official position is that in the past three years, Xingjiang has been volunteering to eliminate extremist trends in the Muslim population. Western media claims that over one million Muslims are detained in detention centers, as ridiculous as it sounds, no country can hold such a large number of people in an area. It is possible that 20, 10 thousand or even millions, half a million people should be detained, but the exaggerated number of millions is known. Western media also allege that the detention centers are monitored by every aspect of every individual’s life. Now if you think of it, today’s social media can monitor almost every aspect of one’s life in every region of the world. It is said that those trained in these detention centers are provided with a fixed bed area. And is said to make rows and sit in fixed seats. They also have to be in fixed positions while teaching skills, thus disciplining them.

Against the Taliban in FATA and Swat, etc. in Pakistan, training centers were established in which former extremists were given vocational training and skills were taught. There seems to be no evil in the process that should be condemned, but the patronage of the terrorists must be condemned. According to one allegation, in 2017 alone, in a week, 15,000 residents were sent to these detention centers and now it is said that they will be released only when they can show that they have corrected their movements. And they declare past extremist activities to be illegal. Even then, the committees of the Communist Party examine who is to be released and who is not.

China’s official position is that these measures protect locals and Xingjiang has not had any terrorist attacks in the last three years. According to China, it is important to keep an eye on terrorists and bring those affected. One of the major disappearances of the Muslim population is geography professor Tashiwalat Tayyab, who heads Xingjiang University until two years ago, then suddenly they disappeared in 2017 and Chinese officials didn’t even say anything, and then the rumors started to fly. Because Professor Tayyab was sympathetic to the separatists, he was forcibly disappeared by Chinese authorities. It was also alleged that Prof. Tayyab was secretly tried and executed. Similarly, news of action against many other writers and teachers and lawyers etc. is coming. Surprisingly, Professor Tayyab was also a member of the Communist Party of China since 2010. Last month, the US announced the blacklist of 28 Chinese companies, using all those allegations. And said that Muslims will not tolerate abuse and visa bans will be imposed on Chinese personnel involved. This will be applied to the Chinese government, the Communist Party and others concerned.

The United States has consistently accused the Chinese government of mistreating not only the Muslim population, but also the pirate and Kyrgyz Muslims. Thus, the United States considers China a serious human rights violation, and China interferes with its internal affairs. China should protect and promote the culture, religion and language of the local people in Xingjiang and Tibet. China, like Pakistan, is a multinational country with many nationalities that cannot be forced to change their identity.

The Soviet Union tried to force religion out of people’s minds for 70 years, but failed. China also cannot do this. All of them cannot be beaten with a stick to eliminate extremism, radicalism and terrorism. Everyone has the right to stick to their faith provided that they do not impose their beliefs on others or adopt violence. This is the best way.
