Cairo … News Time

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Cairo and Doha have decided to mend fences after three years of differences. According to media reports, a formal announcement was made yesterday. For the first time since the recent Gulf summit, Qatar and Egypt have formally informed each other of their intentions to resume diplomatic relations. The Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries began boycotting Qatar three years ago. These countries have accused Qatar of supporting terrorism. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that the two countries have agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations.

It should be noted that the Gulf countries had made 13 demands to Qatar to restore relations, including the closure of Al Jazeera, severing ties with the Muslim Brotherhood and reducing relations with Iran. Qatar, which hosts the largest US military base in the region, has denied the allegations, saying the boycott was intended to undermine its integrity and sovereignty.
