Referendum on the Prefecture level, a formal campaign has been launched for the purpose of land-filling work to transfer the US base to Okinawa in the second place. The referendum will be on February 24 at the work of the earthquake in the coastal area of Henoko, city of Okinawa. Land Filling is a part of the construction work of alternative installation for the Futenma air base of the Marine Corps; this base is located in a beautifully populated area of Ginowan City.
In the opinion of voters’ fill-in to transfer the military base to the military base, three options listed on the belt paper would have to be yes, no more than ever. The results will not be legal. However, the relevant law relates to the referendum, that if a quarter of the respondents support the optimum option, Okinawa’s governor will have to respect the result. It has also been said that the Governor will inform the Japanese Prime Minister and the US President everywhere. Not taking a strong opposition from the government of Okinawa Prefecture Japan’s central government started filling the soil in December last year to build new base. The second transfer of the base is based on Japan’s United States Agreement in 1996.
