Japan said its gross national output during the last quarter of 2019 fell 1.6 percent to the lowest level in five years, the reason for this is tax hikes and hurricanes. Government tax hikes increase from October to December 2019, according to the National Institute of Statistics and the impending hurricane during this period affected productivity and business activity, while the national gross domestic product recorded a 1.6 percent decline over the third quarter. Which is a lower than expected and the lowest level of GDP in any quarter over a five-year period. Earlier in the second quarter April-June 2014 due to the increase in sales tax in 2014, the domestic GDP rate was recorded at 1.9%.
