Senate elections: the story of the destruction of political culture

News Time

In the ferment of parliamentary democracy born from the cradle of General Zia-ul-Haq’s martial law, there was a flash of dishonest wealth. The largest influx of money during the non-partisan elections entered Murree Kahuta in northern Pakistan, and Pakistan’s politics may have seen this accumulation of wealth for the first time during the elections. The historic battle took place between Khaqan Abbasi, a Saudi Pilot Air Commodore and a well-known businessman, and Raja Zafarul Haq, a member of General Zia-ul-Haq’s so-called opening batsman’s cabinet. At that time, the stories of Khaqan Abbasi’s wealth being thrown into the electoral process were very common. There was a well-known story that Khaqan Abbasi called for 7,500 loaders to run the election campaign and distributed them among his political activists after the election. In this stormy relay of wealth, not only General Zia’s opening batsman but also his electoral politics was swept away forever. Thus the center of politics shifted from Kahuta Murree. A few years later, to compete with the Chaudhrys of Gujarat, the PPP had selected Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, a wealthy personality and owner of a service show company. It is also not permissible to misuse money in the election process, but it is a shame for those sitting in the upper houses to stick a sticker for sale on their foreheads.

The non-partisan assembly was elected on the basis of money, caste and caste system rather than on any principle and political criteria. Shortly after this democracy took on the color of party from non-party, these abominations increased. The notion of politics for service and the notion of worshiping politics became a thing of the past. The practice of eating from home and engaging in politics weakened. In one or two elections, the notion that politics is and should be pursued to stabilize the financial situation rather than the welfare of the Hereafter or the welfare of humanity has taken root. After that, the whole political culture changed and a new culture became a tradition in politics. The purpose of entering politics became to give jobs and contracts to Uzair and his relatives and then to the workers and to get commission at high interest.

At the same time, the two-party system came into being and then both the parties started vying to become number one in every field and wealth was one such field. The prime minister of the non-partisan assembly put the army officers in small vehicles and put the politicians in the space planets. This assembly changed the centers of political power.

Compared to the PPP in the 70′s, Maulana Mufti Mehmood, Air Marshal Asghar Khan, Mian Tufail Muhammad, Pir Pagara had a fragmented force that had temporarily gathered under the umbrella of national unity, but Zia-ul-Haq’s martial law When the lid of the political cauldron was lifted, everything was subject to change. The PPP was in place and the romance of party leadership and slogans was established, but the new center of political power, Model Town and the Consensus Umpire, was slowly emerging. Compared to the PML-N’s Changa Manga, the PPP’s old ways of politics have become obsolete and every foul play has become legitimate to win the game in the two major centers of political power. In order to make the no-confidence motion successful and unsuccessful, the members were loaded into vehicles and locked in comfortable places, during which the needs of the people were met as well as the financial support of the members. Thus, with the change in the culture of politics, the use of money in politics has increased. Politics has become a lucrative business. When the big capitalists also jumped into this game, the color of the party became more intense. On one occasion, a man like Qazi Hussain Ahmed resigned, calling the Senate a pile of dirt.

The Senate is the upper house of the country. This is a concept derived from the House of Lords, the capital of British democracy. In this House sit the wise and far-sighted people who are united and well-known in their fields but are reluctant to get involved in electoral politics. It is a concept of benefiting from the collective wisdom of society. If talented people are left out of the law and decision-making houses through the electoral field, they should be excluded from the society. In our case, the most respected and respected democratic house has been turned into a market. Political parties were accused of selling tickets and then candidates were accused of buying votes. Now the capitalists who will come to the houses by investing money in two places will have to spend a lot of money just to put the senator’s sign in front of the car. Obviously, their goal is to earn twice as much as they spent. As soon as the Senate elections come, wealthy people from all over the country are found roaming the corridors of Islamabad. These experiences highlighted the need for an open ballot. If the government has taken this decision to stop the market of conscience, then this work should have been completed, but the political parties have joined hands to oppose this process. A secret video of the conscience market is also circulating in the media. Due to this video, Imran Khan had expelled 20 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from the party. If the Prime Minister of the country says that the Senate vote rate in Balochistan is 50 to 70 crores, then it is a question mark for the credibility and existence of the present electoral system. If the political system is to be cleansed, this time we will have to take a bitter sip of the open ballot in the Senate.
