Presidential elections in Croatia will be held Sunday (today).
The major candidates in the presidential election are former Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic from the Social Democratic Party and Miroslav Skoro, a right-wing folk musician. Miroslav Skoro participates in the election as an independent candidate, but nationalist groups support him. Voting for the second phase of the presidential election will take place on January 5, if it does not receive the required votes. The new president will replace Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, the current popular president, next year. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic was the first woman in her country to assume the presidency. The country on the Adriatic Sea is also set to take over the first half of the European Union next year.
