UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that Pakistan is the second largest country after Turkey to host the refugees, Pakistan has opened its doors to Afghan refugees for 40 years. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, addressing the Afghan Refugees Conference in Islamabad, said that for 40 years the Afghan people have been facing problems, Pakistan has taken positive steps for the Afghan refugees despite their internal problems.

Antonio Guterres said that the international community should come forward for Afghan refugees in Pakistan, Pakistan and Iran are major host countries of refugees in the world. The UN Secretary-General says that all solutions to the Afghan problem are in Afghanistan’s territory, that Afghanistan and its people will no longer have to be left alone, that the international community must now play its responsible role on the Afghanistan issue. On the other hand, US Special Representative for the Afghan Peace Process, Zalmay Khalilzad, says the solution to the Afghan problem is very complicated. Addressing a refugee conference, US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad said the solution to the Afghan problem is not easy, and putting the Afghan conflict factions at a table is the biggest challenge. Zalmay Khalilzad said the US Taliban pact would pave the way for dialogue between Afghan factions, and Afghanistan’s neighbors also play a major role in the peace process. Addressing the refugee conference, Zalmay Khalilzad said the US-Taliban agreement would result in the launch of new Pak-Afghan trade relations.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan while addressing the Afghan Refugees Conference in Islamabad said that terrorists are no longer hiding in Pakistan, for the past 20 years the people of Pakistan have been facing difficulties, despite all the difficulties.
