Justice Gulzar Ahmed took oath as Chief Justice of Pakistan. President Arif Alawi administered the oath of office, the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff attended the ceremony. A simple and intimate ceremony took place in the Presidency of Islamabad. The national anthem was played at the ceremony. In honor of the national anthem, all the high personalities including Justice Gulzar Ahmed, President Arif Alawi, and Prime Minister Imran Khan stood. The formal commencement of the ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After taking oath, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and President Arif Alawi signed the document. Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed for taking oath of office.

Remember that Justice Gulzar Ahmed will remain in the post of Chief Justice for 2 years one month and 10 days; Justice Gulzar Ahmed is the 27th Chief Justice of Pakistan. He was not only a top lawyer but also a judge of high traditions. He was also part of the Bench hearing the most important cases of national history. Justice Gulzar Ahmed graduated from Government National College Karachi and LLB, SM Law College Karachi. Justice Gulzar Ahmed became the Sindh High Court on August 27, 2002 and the Supreme Court judge on November 16, 2011.

Justice Gulzar Ahmed remained a part of the Panama Bench while ruling against the China Cutting and Occupy Mafia in Karachi. More than 500 illegal buildings were demolished in light of the ruling. He was also a part of the bench that decided on several important cases, including the disqualification of NL leader Talal Chowdhury. Justice Gulzar Ahmed will be retired as Chief Justice of Pakistan on 1st February 2022. Earlier, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa held the post of Chief Justice of Pakistan for 11 months 2 days. He was part of important cases, including benches sending two Prime Ministers Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Nawaz Sharif disqualified.
