It’s still premature to assess the efficacy of measures against coronavirus

Tokyo. ۔… News Time

Japanese experts say it is now premature to determine whether nationwide measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus have the desired effect. Speaking to reporters at a news conference hosted by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, according to the Japanese broadcaster, Omi Shigeru said it was premature to assess the effectiveness of the measures against the coronavirus. He said the panel will be able to determine early on May 6 whether the number of infections has decreased as expected. This assessment will be used as the basis for the panel’s next recommendations. Omi Shigeru also said that he undoubtedly believes that even if the number of new infections decreases, it will never be zero. He warned that small waves of infections would continue for some time. He added that the government would need to tighten or soften measures, given the level of infections over time. It is premature to evaluate the efficacy of measures against coronavirus.
