Top European and US officials have urged Iran to comply with the UN nuclear watchdog’s request to allow inspections of its nuclear plants in order to save the 2015 agreement. According to news agencies AFP, AP and Reuters, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Britain met in Paris on Thursday to discuss security in Iran and the region, while US Secretary of State Tony Blinken Attended via video conference. The British Foreign Office said in a statement that the three European countries and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to a policy of non-proliferation and ensured that Iran would never develop a nuclear weapon. According to the statement, the ministers expressed concerns over Iran’s recent move to enrich uranium to 20%.Iran has said it will not allow the UN nuclear watchdog to inspect its nuclear plants until the United States joins the nuclear deal.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has warned that Iran is playing with fire and could jeopardize efforts to bring the United States back into the deal. “We have kept this agreement alive in recent years,” Heiko Maas told reporters in Paris. The steps that have been taken in Tehran and that may be taken in the next few days may not be helpful. They have blocked the United States from renegotiating the agreement. The more pressure is exerted, the more difficult it will be to find a solution to this problem. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the United States is working with its allies to reach a final decision on the future of the 2015 nuclear deal. He said in an online briefing that the US government was focusing on its policy of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Former US President Donald Trump split from the nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Iran.
