The foreign ministers of the Arab League rejected the US’s new stance on Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories. The joint statement after the meeting in Cairo stated that the new US statement aims to legalize ghetto settlements in western Jordan. It should be noted that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a November 18 speech that Israeli settlements in western Jordan do not conflict with international law. Experts say Pompeo’s statement has shaken Washington’s 40-year stand.
