France and Germany have offered to help Sudan get out of debt. France has offered a debt of $.1.5 billion to the debt-ridden Sudan to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), while Germany has offered to help Sudan recover from its debt. I have expressed a desire to help. The announcement was made by French President Emmanuel Macron after a meeting with several African leaders in Paris. The meeting was held to provide financial support to Sudan’s interim government. Emmanuel Macron said that despite many difficulties, significant progress has been made in Sudan since the fall of the former government. He described the change as “encouraging and exemplary” and said that Sudan should play its collective role in achieving its goals. Emmanuel Macron also announced the forgiveness of France’s $.5 billion debt to Sudan. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, who was present on the occasion, said that this cooperation is a sign of our partnership with Sudan and our confidence in it. “We are in favor of forgiving all debts owed to Sudan and want other countries to do the same, as it is necessary to relieve Sudan of its debt burden,” he said. The United States and the United Kingdom were also present at the meeting.
