Water Disputes from India, Pakistani delegation leaves for US

Islamabad … News Time

Pakistan has decided to approach the World Bank once again to resolve the water dispute with India, a high-level delegation from Pakistan has left for the United States where the delegation will hold talks with the World Bank officials for full implementation of Indus Water Treaty. According to sources, the World Bank is the guarantor of the implementation of Indus Water Treaty; the issue of construction of controversial cushion Ganga and sand dams with the World Bank will be taken up. In fact, India is looking to attack the spirit of Indus Water Treaty.

The Modi government has already started propagating water aggression against Pakistan, and over the past few months, it has tried several times to deprive Pakistan of the natural sharing of water sharing under Indus Water Treaty, Chenab, and other aquatic sources had also acted strictly against the measures against which Pakistan had made the World Bank and the World Community aware of India’s reprehensible intentions, but now fears have been raised. It is learned that India intends to build large lakes for the two dams mentioned above, the purpose of which is to build illegal dams and to build additional dams to store extra quantity.

Pakistan believes that doing so is a violation of Indus Water Treaty; remember that Indus Water Treaty was signed in 1960. According to the World Bank, under Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan and India also have legal means of settling disputes and disputes arising from the river’s water, the parties may refer to the Water Commission, Neutral Expert and Court of Arbitration.

Earlier, Pakistan had approached the World Bank, while the bank was of the view that the two countries agreed to settle the matter on their own. However, India has always been keen to undermine the inevitability of the aqueduct deal and to make Pakistan a target of water aggression by obtaining maximum water from the water resources through its tactics. According to sources, the Pakistani delegation will emphasize the formation of a mediation court in talks with the World Bank while India wants the appointment of a neutral expert. Pakistan needs to be aware of Indian ambitions.
