In the African country of Burkina Faso, rebel forces kidnapped President Rochmark Christian Kabur and held him in a military camp after clashes with pro-government forces. According to the International News Agency, military personnel in several barracks in the African country of Burkina Faso revolted, after which shots were heard near the President’s residence. Pictures that went viral on social media showed several armored vehicles of the presidential fleet being shot, and one could be seen near their residence, one of which was covered in blood. Government security officials say rebel forces stormed the presidential residence and took President Rochmark Christian Kabur to a military base after hours of fighting. Two security officials told the international media that the president, speaker of parliament and ministers were safe, but two of the rebel soldiers told the Associated Press over the phone that the president had been kept in a safe place but did not say where. The government of Burkina Faso has denied reports of a military coup in the country, but has confirmed an attack on the presidential residence of military rebels.
