The administration of new US President Joe Biden has begun global contacts on Iran. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Friday that he had discussed Russia, China and Iran with his European allies. US government spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement that Sullivan had discussed a range of issues with officials from France, Germany, Britain and Japan. Talks with EU member states included preliminary talks on issues related to Iran, Russia, North Korea and the Corona virus. The US National Security Adviser also stressed the need to further strengthen the NATO alliance. At the first press briefing on Wednesday evening, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement on the Iranian nuclear issue that the United States is working to strengthen nuclear sanctions on Iran. He said further sanctions on Iran would be part of the president’s initial consultations with his foreign counterparts and allies. He added that the US president intends to consult with allies soon for talks with Iran.
