In occupied Jerusalem, thousands of Israelis demonstrated outside the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday. Protesters demanded that Netanyahu step down. It should be noted that this demonstration was held 3 days before the general election. This is the fourth election to the Israeli parliament in two years. Protesters held Israeli flags. They were playing drums and car horns on roads blocked by police. Meanwhile, slogans were chanted demanding the resignation of the 71-year-old prime minister. The recent demonstration was bigger than other anti-Netanyahu protests in the past few months. According to Israeli media, about 20,000 protesters took part in Saturday’s protest.

Netanyahu’s Likud party is expected to win the most seats in Tuesday’s election. However, opinion polls suggest that Netanyahu’s party will not be able to form a government with a clear majority in parliament. The same thing has happened in the last three elections. Pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahu has increased in recent times. He is also facing trial on corruption charges. Opponents of Netanyahu have also accused him of mismanagement of the administration over the Corona crisis in Israel. The Israeli prime minister is also facing charges of bribery and betrayal of trust. However, Netanyahu has denied involvement in any such activity.
