2-day strike against PM plans to end Article 35-A in merged Kashmir on Monday

The Indian Supreme Court has postponed the Article 35-A of Indian Constitution till August 27 however, the two-day strike against the project to end Article 35-A in the occupied Kashmir was continued on Monday. According to Kashmiri Media Cell, during the hearing on Monday, the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said the next date of hearing on applications will now be decided during the week starting from August 27. The Indian Supreme Court has adjourned the petitions filed against Section 35A of the constitution. The petitions have been appealed to cancel this petition in the applications, as saying. One of these applications was filed by an NGO, The Stage in 2014. This organization has allegedly backed up a conservative Hindu organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

During the hearing on Monday, the Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, said that the next date of hearing on the petitions will be decided on the start of 27th August. Chief Justice Dipak Misra said Monday’s hearing is being postponed because Justice Dai, who is involved in the cumulative bench of the case, is on a moon holiday. Under section 35A, the State Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir has the right to set up permanent states and to give special rights and privileges to them. Experts say that if the Section 35A is canceled, the law will be affected by the law enforced from 1927. In which many settled people in Kashmir can buy and sell unauthorized property in the state. And can get government jobs and educational benefits and are eligible to vote for the selection of State Assembly. Section 35 A sub-clauses of Section 370 of the Indian Constitution, which was incorporated in the Constitution by a presidential decree in 1954. Under section 370 State Jammu & Kashmir has got special constitutional status in the Indian Territory.

On the other hand, the situation in Kashmir Valley is tense on this new progress. According to media reports, the Supreme Court had a complete strike on the other day in all 10 districts of Kashmir valley against the hearing in Section 35A. Bus and train services are closed. The weekly caravan peace-sharing service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad has also been suspended. The news published in the Indian media states that India’s intelligence agencies have warned their government. If the Supreme Court issued any order against Section 35-A, a public protest movement will begin in Jammu and Kashmir and the local police will rebel. The Azad Kashmir branch of the total-party Hurriyat Conference demonstrated protest in Islamabad on Monday against the Indian efforts.
