The throne and interesting rituals of the new Japanese emperor

Tokyo … News Time

Emperor Naruhito of Japan has become a regular throne. At a simple ceremony in the royal palace on Tuesday, Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako completed the throne. This throne of throne and crowning is centuries old in the local language known as “Kenji-to-Shokei-no-gi”.According to the British news agency Reuters, the event was attended by heads of more than 180 countries, high personalities and 2,000 guests. The guests included Prince Charles of the UK and Dr Arif Alawi, President of Pakistan, US Transport Secretary Elaine Chao and Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Japan’s new Emperor Naruhito is 59 years old. On May 1 this year, it was announced that they would be Emperor. During the throne ceremony, Emperor pledged to fulfill his duties for the state. He vowed at the oath of office that he would perform his official duties as per the constitution and keep the people united. Naruhito was born after World War II. His father, Akihito, is the first Japanese emperor in the last two centuries to voluntarily declare his separation from power. Otherwise, according to tradition, the Japanese Emperor is enthroned all his life. The events of the throne of Naruhito continued until May 1 of this year, before the oncoming hurricane, which reached its end on Tuesday.

The throne was held in the Matsu-no-Ma, or Hall of Pine, the hall’s most sacred room. During the ritual Naruhito emerged as a new Emperor with curtains on a 21-foot-high throne. He was wearing a traditional orange and black dress while holding the oath in both hands. As the two courtiers moved the curtains on the throne from right to left, Naruhito read aloud the short oath to everyone. Meanwhile, 55-year-old Harvard University educator and Naruhito’s wife, Empress Masako, was wearing a 12-layer heavy dress. This traditional garment weighed about 15kg. Empress Masako also came from scenes like Naruhito. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe congratulated all the honored personalities, including Emperor’s younger brother Prince Akishino and his family. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe salutes 21 guns for Emperor before ‘Banzai!’ That is, for the long life three times he shouted loudly while the people in the court also responded loudly to the slogan. Earlier, Naruhito dressed in white and went to the tombs of the royal ancestors located in the underground part of the palace. It is also customary for the Japanese Emperor to visit the tombs of the ancestors before their accession.

Naruhito is unusual among recent Japanese Emperors because they have no children. Under Japanese law, no woman or woman can inherit the throne. The future of the royal family for generations to come is on the shoulders of Naruhito’s 13-year-old nephew Hisahito, who will be crowned after his father Prince Akishino. Naruhito’s grandfather has been considered a god in Japan since World War II but after the defeat of Japan in 1945, he relinquished his highest status. Since then Emperors have no political authority in Japan. Many Japanese welcomed Naruhito’s enthronement ceremony, but some saw it as disturbing. He said there was no reason to hold such a grand event on this occasion. This affected the flow of traffic and made the common people suffer. Be aware that the status of the Japanese Emperor is now only symbolic. Some Japanese citizens believe that having or not being Emperor doesn’t matter.
