Baghdad … News Time

An adviser to Iraqi popular Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr has warned that if the so-called Prime Minister Muhammad Tawfik Allawi joins the political elite in his cabinet, he will face hell. And they will be ousted from power within a few days. Iraqi President Barham Salih February 1 invited Muhammad Tawfik Allawi to become the new prime minister and formed the government. And they are obliged to submit their Cabinet list for approval by March 2.

In the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and southern cities, protesters against the political elite have rejected the nomination of Taufik Allawi. Muqtada al-Sadr has been supportive of the protest before, but last week announced the withdrawal of the protesters and the support of the designated prime minister. Kazem Esvi, a senior adviser to Muqtada al-Sadr, says members of the political elite should not be included in the new cabinet. Al-Hashed al-Sha’bi, especially those consisting of Shiite militias, should not be fully represented in the cabinet. He said in a statement on Sunday: If Syed Muqtada (Muqtada al-Sadr) heard that Alawi (Muhammad Tawfik Allawi) had given a single ministry to any side, especially to the Shiite armed factions. Then Iraq will become hell for them and the people will take them out of power in three days.

Kazem Esvi, speaking at a gathering, said that Muqtada al-Sadr had also refused to join the new cabinet of his block. He said that the supporters of Saddar (Muqtada al-Sadr) would surround Baghdad’s green zone for approval in the non-party cabinet’s parliament. Parliament, government offices and foreign embassies are located in this highly secured area of the Iraqi capital. Muqtada al-Sadr (Muqtada al-Sadr) has been at odds with various Shiite militias since the formation of Al-Hashed al-Sha’bi in 2014 to fight ISIS. It also includes several deviant members of his own presidential movement.

The Shi’ite leadership, together with al-Hashed al-Sha’bi’s political wing Fateh Block in 2018, backed the then Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi. But the partnership was terminated after the public protests began in October last year. And Adil Abdul-Mahdi had to resign from the ministry in early December. Almost two months after that, Iraqi political factions nominated Muhammad Tawfik Allawi as prime minister last week after lengthy consultations and deliberations.
