The special court has given remarks to the prosecution till December 17 in a serious treason case against former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, who will hear the arguments and decide the date. A three-member bench of the special court headed by Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth in the federal capital heard a serious treason case. The prosecution team appointed by the government appeared in the case and Ali Zia Bajwa, a member of the team, said that he and Munir Bhatti had been appointed prosecutors. The prosecutor said he received a notification at 4pm last evening and a record containing 3,000 pages, so he should be given a chance to read the record. Ali Zia Bajwa said that he would not rely on the arguments of the former team of prosecutors. On this, Justice Waqar Seth said that this is a special case and this is a special court. At the same time, Justice Nazar Akbar asked that you tell us when to give arguments, not to give more than a week, to which the prosecutor said the court should give proper time. Justice Nazar Akbar remarked that 4 days is too long to prepare the case, not wanting to be played by the prosecution.

During the hearing, Justice Waqar Seth said that the rest of the cases aside, fight the case. The judges of the court come from different parts of the country. On this, Justice Nazar Akbar said that no matter what the pressure may be on the lawyer and the court, the lawyer’s job is to assist the court. On prosecutorial remarks, the prosecutor said that 15 days should be given to prepare the case, to which the court replied that no postponement would be granted after 15 days. Justice Waqar Seth said that the case is being adjourned till December 17, and will write in the order to give his arguments by December 17. The court said it will hear the prosecution’s arguments and decide the verdict on December 17.

Serious treason case:

It should be noted that on November 3, 2007, the PML-N government filed a serious treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf for imposing and imposing an emergency, which he did not appear in many hearings and later he had to leave the country due to illness. The special court in Islamabad had reserved the judgment of serious treason case on November 19 this year, which was to be heard on November 28. However, Musharraf had filed a petition in the Lahore and Islamabad High Court against the decision. At the same time, the federal government also approached the Islamabad High Court to stop the special court from delivering the verdict. At a hearing on November 27, the Islamabad High Court stayed the special court from hearing the verdict of a serious treason case. After which the special court in its written decision hearing November 28 serious treason case said he would not comment on the High Court verdict and a bench comprising 3 judges said he was not obliged to implement the Islamabad High Court decision. Also on November 28, the special court hearing the serious treason case decided to hear the case on a daily basis, ordering former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to record his statement by December 5.
