Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz’s request to be named from the ECL was dismissed as invalid; the Lahore High Court has directed the applicant to approach the Interior Ministry. The Fazal court has directed the federal government to decide on the issue of removing the name of Maryam Nawaz from the ECL in 7 days. According to details, a petition was heard in the Lahore High Court seeking the removal of Maryam Nawaz from the ACL. A two-member bench headed by Justice Baqir heard the petition. The court pronounced the verdict on the request to remove Maryam Nawaz from the ECL. Request to remove Maryam Nawaz’s name from the ECL was dropped. It may be recalled that former PM Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N Muslim Maryam Nawaz had approached the Lahore High Court to withdraw his name from the ECL. The Lahore High Court appointed the petition for hearing. In the petition, Maryam Nawaz has taken the stand that permission to go out for 6 weeks till the final decision in the case. Maryam Nawaz has said that she wants to go abroad to take care of her father. Remember that the name of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his nephew Maryam Nawaz were included in the ECL. The name of Captain Retired Safdar was also added to the ECL.
The Federal Cabinet approved the nomination of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his maternal grandmother Maryam Nawaz in the ECL. Now, the PML-N has also submitted a petition to the Lahore High Court to remove Maryam Nawaz’s name from the ECL. The hearing will be held on Monday.
