Kurdish fighters do not evacuate safe zones in Syria: Turkish President

Ankara – News Time

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that despite an agreement with the United States, Kurdish fighters have not yet evacuated the safe zone in Syria’s northern border, with US troops and rebels patrolling jointly. According to a foreign news agency ‘Reuters’ report, Tayyip Erdogan was addressing Turkish and Russian troops in a second joint march near Kobane, northern Syria. Where troops from both countries are in agreement to push Kurdish fighters 30 km back from the Turkish border, according to the agreement. Referring to two areas of Syria’s western border, he neither said these areas were not cleared of terrorists and that the terrorists did not go to Tall Rifat nor evacuates Manbij. Erdogan said the terrorists are now in the eastern region of Ras al-Ayn, but Turkey will remain in agreement as long as the US and Russia keeps their promises. Talking to media representatives, Erdogan said that US forces are still patrolling with ‘YPG’ within 30 kilometers. Criticizing US policy, he said how we should explain why the US is patrolling the region with a terrorist organization, even though they had signed a withdrawal agreement that was not ours.

Remember that Turkey said last month that it had launched an operation against the YPG in the northern Syrian region. That he wants to create a ‘safe zone’ 30 km across the border where Syrian refugees will be settled. Turkey and other powers, including Russia and the United States, expressed concern when the US announced the withdrawal of its troops from Syria and later supported the Turkish stance. Russia also upheld Turkey’s decision, and an agreement was reached to clear the border with Kurdish fighters. And the US demanded a one-week ceasefire from Turkey to allow the YPG to withdraw. Later, Russia and Turkey began joint patrols in the Syrian border, where ISIS has been trying to seize control since 2014, while being considered the center of the YPG. Russia’s military police arrived in the Syrian border October 23 under an agreement between President Vladimir Putin and Erdogan.
