Jakarta … News Time

The Indonesian navy has warned that the 53 crew members of the ship that went missing yesterday have only 72 hours of oxygen. According to a BBC Urdu report, Indonesian authorities have begun searching for the missing submarine, which has 53 Indonesian naval personnel on board. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the submarine was conducting combat exercises north of the island of Bali, but lost contact with authorities over the outcome of the exercises. Indonesia’s military chief says warships have been dispatched to search for its KRI Nanggala-402 submarine, while officials have appealed to Australia and Singapore to help find the submarine. However, no statement has been issued by these countries so far. The German-built submarine has been missing since Wednesday at sea, 60 miles off the island of Bali. Admiral Julius Widjojono of the Indonesian Navy told AFP that the navy was conducting a search and that “we know the sea is very deep.” The submarine reportedly lost contact when it was allowed to go deeper. Indonesia has one in five submarines. According to the British news agency Reuters, the submarine was built in the last years of the 1970s, after which it was repaired in South Korea in 2012 for two years.
