Hudibiya Paper Criminal Case has not followed the Sharif family even after 17 years. When NAB had set up the case under this dictator Pervez Musharraf in a scandal worth Rs. 24 crores. Now, three member bench of the Supreme Court on Monday will hear NAB appeal against the Lahore High Court verdict three years ago in this case. The original reference was filed against the Accountability court in March 2000 and against Shahbaz Sharif. Other suspects included Maryam, Hussain Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz, Abbas Sharif’s late and his wife Sabhia. However, in December 2000, after the exile of Sharif Brothers, the reference was put in a pending interlude. In 2011, the respondents filed an application in the Lahore High Court for reference. In October this year Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court suspended the Accountability court with further action in the case. However the matter was again investigated and the decision was taken on NAB’s ability. The matter was sent to the Chief Justice, in response, to the referee judge for the final decision. The refugee judge in the case of May 2014 disposed the case. And at that time NAB did not challenge the judgment in the court. The court has observed that the Sharif family did not give the opportunity to prove its assets by joining the investigation. On September 20 this year, NAB challenged the Lahore High Court’s decision and claimed that 6-member JIT investigated the latest evidence of Panama Leaks’s investigation. NAB prosecutor general Waqas Qadir Dar filed a constitutional court against the Sharif family. Earlier this year, NAB had assured the Supreme Court that the case would be given to open this case during the hearing of Sheikh Rashid’s petition. A 5-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa was hearing. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed July 21 submitted an application during the hearing of the Panama Papers case. NAB had informed that he will submit reply in 7 days to reopen the Hariibia Paper Mills case. In 2000, NAB filed two references in the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. In the initial reference, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was nominated, but after his confession of allegations of Sharif brothers, his name has been removed from the final reference.
