News time

An English idiom focuses on the reality of changing values over time. In politics the so-called principles are not permanent anyway. For the sake of convenience politicians who show flexibility, we as humble people try to lighten the burden by calling it utter. Since Sunday night, my mind has been on an astonishing utopia that is considered by far the only superpower country that the United States has taken in these days. The joke is also that this uturn is not paying attention.

Since 2007, Washington has consistently started accusing Pakistan of playing a double game with Afghanistan. Despite being an ally of the United States in the war on terror, the US has been patronizing the Taliban in some way. Terrorists have access to shelters in Pakistan from which terrorist schemes are planned in Afghanistan. Funds and weapons are collected to execute these projects. There was intense pressure on Pakistan to abolish the alleged shelter. Push the terrorists on their land into Afghanistan and kill the state with full force if they refuse to maintain their existence.

The Haqqani Network has been repeatedly mentioned in stories about the allegations of double game in Afghanistan. Brother Asad Munir, who has worked at ISI for many years, regularly communicates to foreign journalists through private meetings, newspaper articles and Twitter messages that no Haqqani Network organization exists on its own. Jalaluddin Haqqani has numerous followers in our tribal areas, especially North Waziristan. They should not be considered separate from the Taliban.

Haqqani was portrayed as a hero in the so-called world media in the 1980s. US President Reagan equates the struggle for the liberation of Afghan mujahideen along with Haqqani which the founding leaders of the United States adopted to rid Britain of slavery. The mujahideen were fondly called the White House. Pictures were taken with them. Any foreign journalist who comes to Islamabad during the Afghan jihad has always had priority in connecting with Jalaluddin Haqqani.

About the Mujahideen involved in the restoration of freedom and human rights in Afghanistan which was warmly visible in the hearts of foreign journalists and diplomats it bothered journalists like me. In the 1980s, we had the oppression of martial law. Before the newspapers went to the press, press information departments were sent for pre-censorship, the newspaper that was printed after the approved or disapproved measures from there would never have been an editor.

Our politicians were not even allowed to hold a press conference in a hotel in Rawalpindi or Islamabad these days, knowing that their statements could not be published in the newspaper. Afghan mujahideen like Gulbuddin Hekmatyar would address crowded press conferences at five-star hotels in Islamabad at least once a month, compared to our politicians. The modern-day armed personnel carried out the security duties of these mujahideen leaders. During a press conference, journalists like me have always lacked the courage to ask straightforward questions.

Eventually, Afghanistan was liberated. When the occupying forces returned, the Soviet Union dissolved. Only Russia remains. After the Soviet Union was defeated in Afghanistan with the help of Pakistan, the United States forgot both Afghanistan and Pakistan. The chaos that has erupted in Afghanistan provided opportunities for the Taliban to emerge. In foreign newspapers, however, the story will spread that the Taliban are merely proxies of Pakistan. They have no importance for themselves.

9/11 later. General Musharraf replaced General Zia and the original democracy based on the enlightened and powerful and independent local bodies he introduced. After 9/11, jihad was no longer terrorism. Pakistan was required to use state power for its destruction. General Musharraf was pleased to perform this duty. US President Bush is proud to call him Tight Buddy. The war imposed on Afghanistan but did not succeed. Instead of openly reviewing the reasons for its failure, the United States began to criticize Pakistan for the double game. We have been accused of hypocritical patronage of the Taliban. The Haqqani Network was especially cited as one of the worst examples of our hypocrisy.

After investigating the facts, thanks to Assad Munir, I continued to try to convince foreign journalists and diplomats that the Haqqani network was part of the Taliban. Jalaluddin Haqqani has recognized Mullah Omar as wealthy alumni. It only took hours to explain the concept of Ba’ath. Honest conversations with reporters like me were heard in contempt. A few American and European diplomats also raised questions about my intention. I was considered a member of the Deep State of Pakistan.

After decades of constant condemnation by the Haqqani network, it is now known that Zalmay Khalilzad has released Anus Haqqani, the most important leader of the network, from the Afghan government despite serious terrorism allegations. Talks with the Taliban have been revived since the release. Zalmay Khalilzad is seen as the most prominent of those negotiating in Doha. We journalists, however, do not have the opportunity to raise questions as to why the Taliban or Haqqani Network terrorists are now negotiating. The Taliban are negotiating with the US government, not as a group, but as Islamic. In a solid diplomatic context, the ongoing dialogue between the United States and the Taliban is a dialogue between the two sovereign states.

Looking at this conversation, it is often thought that despite billions of dollars and the use of sophisticated weapons, the world’s only superpower was finally forced to ask for peace from the Taliban, assuming the fact that you are an ordinary young man of Pakistan or of any Islamic country. Are distracted by life. Want to change that. If writers like me try to show the path of democratic struggle to those young people who want change, why would they listen to me? Their heroes will be individuals like Anas Haqqani. They want to follow the path of jihad with them and prove my arguments hollow by reminding them of this fact. That evens a superpower like the United States will eventually have to turn against the mujahidin. The democratic system introduced by the West is the government. It gives elite power to the elite, and to the present-day elites wait for Washington’s gestures. Jihad is therefore the only way of salvation. Values do not change over time. The rulers have pantheon. Do what you want we defamed him.
