Climate change targets are unsatisfactory, UN

Geneva … News Time

The United Nations has said it is “deeply concerned” that the targets for tackling climate change are “unsatisfactory”. Ahead of the COP 26 conference in November, the United Nations is urging countries that emit large amounts of carbon dioxide to develop more bold climate action plans, according to a report released by the United Nations. The report points out those global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 in order to limit the average rise in global temperature to 1.5 percent above pre-industrial levels. The report said that of the large emitters of greenhouse gases, only the United Kingdom and the European Union had submitted plans to significantly increase their targets. It should be noted that UN Secretary General Antuternio Guterres has called this report a very serious warning to the planet.
