Afghanistan’s chief executive Abdullah Abdullah termed the 7-point peace plan of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani unrealistic and a wish list. According to a report published in Afghan News Agency Tolo, Abdullah Abdullah said in an interview to news agency AFP Ashraf Ghani’s team made a seven-point proposal last month, calling for an end to the war in the country. He said that no one had taken this so-called 7-point project as a plan, but the proposal was merely a wish list. According to AFP, the unrealistic class strongly criticized Ashraf Ghani’s proposal, which included a ceasefire agreement for a month before talks with the Taliban. He said that no one was taking the above proposal seriously.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump canceled peace talks with the Taliban in September this year. Abdullah Abdullah said that any future talks must involve the delegates of the Afghan government, whether they are under his leadership or Ashraf Ghani. They said the Afghan government would have to be part of the Afghan peace process. In this regard, Ashraf Ghani’s spokesman Siddiq Siddiqui reacted to Abdullah Abdullah’s stance, saying that Ashraf Ghani’s seven-point plan guarantees sustainable peace. He said the above proposal included national consensus. Siddiq Siddiqui said Ashraf Ghani’s plan ensures fair results. He said that Ashraf Ghani promoted past efforts and took steps towards stability, which aims to end bloodshed as soon as possible.

What happened after the Afghan peace process was canceled?

Remember that on September 8, President Donald Trump surprised everyone by announcing that he had invited senior Taliban leadership and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to meet at Camp David, but at the last minute, they canceled the talks over the death of an American soldier in a Taliban attack. Reacting to this, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Donald Trump suspended the series of talks. Now, however, the United States will suffer more extraordinary losses than ever before, but the door will still be open for future talks. The Taliban delegation also went to Russia September 14 after negotiations with the United States were canceled, which the Taliban leader spoke on condition of anonymity. The purpose of the visit is not to try to resume negotiations with the United States, but to examine regional support to force the US to withdraw from Afghanistan. Later, the Taliban delegation visited Beijing on September 29 and met with Chinese Representative Deng Xi Jun. The talks were suspended by US and Taliban representatives regarding the ongoing negotiations in Doha’s capital Doha. That they agreed on a procedure that would be finalized soon. So if this agreement was reached, the United States would likely plan to gradually withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. Whereas, the Taliban would have guaranteed that Afghanistan would not be a safe haven for any other militant group in the future.
