Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed a joint session of Pakistan’s parliament for the fourth time, saying that Pak-Turkish friendship is not based on interest. The Turkish President said that with my stepping into Islamabad, I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Pakistan and the high officials on the way in which the people of Pakistan received us with happiness and love. I never feel myself here in a foreign country in Pakistan at this time I am with you in my house. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey and Pakistan have such relations that it is possible to see the world in some countries and nations.

“Despite the political pressure put into the meetings of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), we strongly assure the full support of Pakistan,” Rajab Tayyab Erdogan said. At the beginning of the joint meeting, the national anthems of Turkey and Pakistan were read, followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran and the Naat of the Prophet (pece be upon him).

Speaker National Assembly Assad Qaiser said at the beginning of the meeting that Rajab Tayyip Erdogan is a true friend of Pakistan and leader of the Muslim Ummah. He said that the elected House of the 22 million Pakistani people welcomes the Turkish President. Prime Minister Imran Khan, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjani welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the arrival of Parliament to attend the meeting. Governor Sindh Imran Ismail Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, Assistant Prime Minister’s Special Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider arrived in Parliament before the start of the joint session. Recep Tayyip Erdo ۔an arrived in Pakistan on a two-day visit yesterday, aimed at strengthening bilateral strategic partnerships and economic ties. In addition, Foreign Ambassador, Heads of Armed Forces, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Election Commissioner, Governor State Bank, Federal Secretaries, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Governor and Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan were also invited to the meeting.

Speaking to Pakistan Television, Pakistan Television, before the joint session of Parliament, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said, “I consider him meeting an older brother’s younger brother, the Turkish people have a loving relationship with the people of Pakistan.”This is a historic occasion and I pray that it will give the Muslim Umma a leadership,” he said. Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider said that Turkey is an Islamic country and since the establishment of Pakistan has been in a long relationship and Turkey has openly supported Pakistan’s stand on Kashmir issue.

Erdogan’s Fourth Address to the Joint Parliament:

It is to be remembered that the Turkish President addressed the Pakistani Parliament for the fourth time, during his last visit to Pakistan during the Pakistan Muslim League-N government and also addressed the Parliament. However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members boycotted the meeting, protesting against the alleged corruption of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. It should be noted that Erdogan has the honor of addressing Pakistan’s Parliament twice as Prime Minister. And today he will address Pakistan’s parliament for the second time as President. Recep Tayyip Erdogan has addressed the joint session of parliament on October 26, 2009 and May 21, 2012. He addressed the President for the first time on November 2016, and the second address on 14 February 2020. Prior to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address, Turkish President Kenan Avern addressed a joint session of parliament on November 15, 1985.

It is to be noted that the Turkish President is the 21st foreigner to address the Pakistan National Assembly / Senate / Joint Meeting and the first to address the current Parliament. Before addressing a joint session of parliament, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also meet Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues. In addition, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Imran Khan will jointly preside over the sixth meeting of the Pakistan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). And will also address the Turkey Business and Investment Forum in Pakistan. Later, the meeting will have the ceremony of signing the agreements and agreements reached. Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Turkish president are likely to hold a joint press conference.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. When Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at Noor Khan Airport in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of the federal cabinet received the Turkish President warmly. On the occasion, children presented bouquets to distinguished guests; the Turkish President also personally exchanged hands with federal ministers and top military officials for their reception at Noor Khan Airbase. Later, Prime Minister Imran Khan demonstrated his traditional hospitality and drove himself to Prime Minister House. Where the Turkish President was presented the Guard of Honor, the Prime Minister arrived at the Presidential Palace in the presence of the Prime Minister. National anthems of both countries were played on this occasion.

The Pakistani army’s guarded army presented the guard of honor to the Turkish president and saluted him. Strict security arrangements were made at Noor Khan Airbase on the arrival of the Turkish President and security alerts have been put in place from Noor Khan Airbus to Red Zone, reception posters were also organized on the occasion in the Federal Capital, Islamabad.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo ۔an also visited the Presidency where he was received by President Arif Alawi. One-on-one meetings were held between the Presidents of the two countries, in which both Presidents reaffirmed their commitment that Pakistan and Turkey will continue to cooperate on each other’s core national interests, he also stressed the importance of fully understanding the immense potential of the relations between Pakistan and Turkey and turning it into a strong and vibrant trade and economic partnership. Presidents of both countries also agreed that Pakistan and Turkey should continue to work together to meet the challenges faced by the Ummah, including Islamophobia.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on President Arif Alawi in the Presidency on Thursday. President Erdogan is visiting Pakistan for the Sixth Meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). Later on, President Dr Arif Alawi and First Lady Begum Samina Alawi organized a dinner in honor of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife Amina Erdogan. During Erdogan’s visit, there will be several agreements on defense, railways, information, economy and trade, while also signing a dual citizenship agreement between Pakistan and Turkey. The Turkish president will also address the fourth meeting of the parliament on Friday, the day after which Prime Minister Imran Khan will give a dinner in honor of the Turkish president. The two leaders will jointly chair the Pak-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council, which will also issue a joint statement at the end. President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Imran Khan will also address the joint news conference.
