Biden has been elected President of the United States, but the spectacle of the US presidential election continues because Donald Trump has refused to concede defeat. He has said that the elections have been rigged. “The election process is far from over,” he said. He has announced to approach the court in this regard. Joe Biden received 270 electoral votes, while Trump received only 214 electoral votes. Biden’s electoral vote is expected to rise to 306.

Democracy in the United States is said to be the strongest democracy in the world, but this time the US election process was seen as a third world country in terms of its overall atmosphere. Joe Biden won on November 7, 2020, but the picture of the November 6 US elections was embarrassing in every way. Even on the second day of the US presidential election, the decision of the new US president could not be made. Biden, who is close to victory, but has been accused of rigging the election by Donald Trump, said in a tweet that “evidence of fraud has been found, we are now going to challenge the results.” We will challenge the states in which Biden has declared victory on the basis of voter fraud and state election fraud. Tensions have risen in several states following allegations of fraud by Donald Trump. Demonstrations and clashed with riot police and protesters and arrested more than 50 people. In Washington, supporters of Biden and Donald Trump have clashed. Police used tear gas to disperse them.

Biden’s supporters have called on Trump to vacate the White House. In the state of Michigan, supporters of Donald Trump have demanded that the counting of votes be suspended. They surrounded a counting center. Biden supporters demonstrate in Houston. He said he did not accept fascist America. The National Guard has been activated following violent anti-Trump protests in Oregon. Police arrested some protesters. Hammers and a rifle were recovered from the detainees. International observers have called the election “tainted.”

Democracy and its electoral process is a spectacle in most Third World countries, and the US election has been a spectacle. In that sense, there is no difference between First World and Third World democracy. Third world democracy is always rigged, and US President Donald Trump has called his election process rigged. Proponents of Donald Trump have said that in some areas votes have been cast for those who have died. The votes of those who do not live in the area have also been cast; the votes of those who do not have legal documents have also been cast. In this context, there is a complete picture of electoral fraud in the United States.

One of the hallmarks of Third World democracy is that the loser never admits defeat, and even Donald Trump in the US election has refused to recognize the election results. In Third World democracies, rivals compete and demonstrate power. This process was seen in many places in the US elections. The reason for what happens in the democracies of third world countries is that their democracy is new; it has not yet taken root. But American democracy is two and a half centuries old, and it is believed to be a tenacious tree. But the 2020 election has completely exposed this democracy, and the fact has come to light that American democracy, like Third World democracy, is a spectacle.

The question here is what is the significance of Donald Trump’s defeat in the US election and Joe Biden’s victory? When Donald Trump was successful four years ago, we said in the same columns that Donald Trump’s success is a victory for the United States of America. America is inwardly conservative and America is outwardly liberal. Malcolm X wrote somewhere in his autobiography that it is easy to fight the conservative wolf and difficult to fight the liberal fox. In that sense, Donald Trump was a conservative wolf and Joe Biden a liberal fox. In this context, the Liberal Fox has defeated the Conservative Wolf in this US election. There is another implication of this victory and defeat, and that is that America is inwardly rigid and America is outwardly diplomatic. So Biden’s victory and Trump’s defeat mean that diplomacy has defeated hardliners. But dealing with US diplomacy is more difficult than dealing with its toughness.

The United States imposed war on Afghanistan, but the Taliban defeated the United States in an open war. The United States was even seen begging for talks with the Taliban. But US diplomacy deceives nations. Through the IMF, it ensnares nations economically. It plays with the freedom of nations through UN Security Council resolutions. The defeat of Donald Trump and the victory of Joe Biden need to be seen in the context of Corona and the economy. It is on record that Donald Trump emerged as a popular leader in the United States. He claimed that he would make America great again. Under him, the US economy grew tremendously and the unemployment rate fell sharply. Trump successfully challenged China’s trade supremacy and forced China to enter into agreements that benefited the United States by billions of dollars. That is why, a year before the election, he had no political rival in the United States. Biden was behind him in opinion polls. The Americans sacrificed their hearts and minds for Donald Trump. He was accused of raping more than a dozen women, but the Americans refused to take notice. Donald Trump kept changing his ministers and advisers rapidly, but the Americans said that Donald Trump has the right to do so. But the Corona epidemic changed the face of the American political landscape. Corona made 10 million Americans sick, left more than 20 million Americans unemployed, and plunged the American economy into recession. Coincidentally, Donald Trump did not show the right attitude towards Corona. At first, they did not recognize Corona as a serious problem. Then he started blaming China in this regard. He then gave the impression that the United States was about to develop a vaccine for corona, so there was no need to worry about corona. But Corona settled in the United States. The fact that 10 million people in the United States have been infected with Corona means that at least 5 million families in the United States have been infected with Corona. This situation affected the public popularity of Donald Trump. According to a nationwide poll, Corona was important to 18% of Americans in terms of voting, while 34% of Americans valued the economy in terms of voting. Thus, 52% of American voters were affected by Corona and the economy. Were it not for that, Biden would not have been able to defeat Donald Trump. The current situation is that Biden got 74.1 million votes, and Trump got 70 million votes. Without Corona and the economy, Donald Trump could have won up to 80 million votes. In that case, their success would have been assured.

The US presidential election has once again highlighted the global crisis of democracy. The fact is that democracy is seen as the tyranny of the majority everywhere. The eyes of the world are no longer on the good and the bad, the worthy and the unworthy, only the majority is important. If the majority calls poison sugar, then poison becomes sugar. If the majority makes sugar poison, then the whole world starts calling it poison. One sign of the global crisis of democracy is that democracy is bringing out characters like Modi and Trump. This shows that democracy does not have a sieve. How strange it is that people call Trump and Modi bad but do not call the systems that have given them the most important positions bad. It is the perfection of democracy that those who cannot even be given the right to ride a bicycle on the road are running the country. Those in whose hands the destiny of a man cannot be given are deciding the destiny of nations.

The US presidential election has once again proved that democracy does not unite the nation, it divides it. The situation at the moment is that half of America is with Biden, and half of America is with Trump. If the winner Joe Biden got 74.1 million votes, then Donald Trump also got 70 million votes. People think that tribalism is a thing of the past, but the fact is that democracy is nothing but a modern form of tribalism. In most countries of the world, political parties have no ideology, so political parties feel more tribal than political parties. Even in the United States, the Democratic and Republican parties are one tribe. In Pakistan, the war between Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif is not a war of two parties; it is a war of two tribes. Even the Pakistani establishment is a tribe of the 20th and 21st century.
