Following the move, 16 prefectures will be declared semi-emergency. For the first time, the daily number of victims in the country has exceeded 40,000. This is the second highest daily record for the second day in a row. Authorities in Tokyo on Wednesday confirmed 7,377 new cases of the corona virus. This is the new highest daily number ever in the Japanese capital. This is about 1,500 more than the previous record high of 5,908 on August 13 last year. The number of new victims in Tokyo has risen sharply in recent years, and on Tuesday, for the first time this year, the daily number exceeded 5,000. The number of critically ill people in Tokyo is 10, three more than on Tuesday, according to Tokyo officials. Other prefectures include Osaka 6,101, Aichi 2,881, Hugo 2,514, Kanagawa 2,288, Saitama 2,215, Fukuoka 2,208, Chiba 1605, Okinawa 1,433, and Kyoto. 1,200 new cases have been confirmed in Hokkaido and 1,042 in Hiroshima.
