The NHK has learned that final arrangements are being made for a tripartite meeting next Monday to allow overseas spectators to attend the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. According to the plan, the 2020 Tokyo Games were postponed for a year due to the global corona virus epidemic. The International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, the Tokyo Games Organizing Committee, the Government of Japan and the Tokyo Municipality agreed on March 3 to decide whether to allow overseas spectators to come to the Games later this month. They also agreed to decide by the end of April on the number of spectators at the venues. Seiko Hashimoto, chairwoman of the Tokyo Games Organizing Committee, called for a decision on the participation of overseas spectators before the start of the Olympic torch rally on March 25. The Summer Olympic Games are scheduled to begin on July 23.
