The 2020 Tokyo Games Olympic torch has reached Japan from Greece. The special torch plane landed at the Matsushima Air Base of the Japanese Air Self Defense Force in Miyagi Prefecture, northeast Japan on Friday. This special flight arrived at the destination 90 minutes before the scheduled time. The Olympic torch was lit in Greece on March 12 in the ancient Olympia ruins. A reception for the torch was held at Matsushima Air Base on Friday following the flight’s arrival. Three-time Olympic champion Judo athlete Tadaharo Namara and wrestler YOSHIDA Saori received the torch and lit a small torch. The Air Self Defense Force’s aerobatics team Blue Impulse flew from the jets into the formations and showed off the Olympic sphere by making five spheres, leaving colorful smoke in the atmosphere.

On the other hand, the International Olympic Committee, IOC President Thomas Bach, says the IOC is considering different possibilities for the Tokyo Olympics. Bach Thomas interviewed the New York Times on Thursday in the context of the outbreak of the new Coronavirus. They were asked whether a deadline has been set for the decision on whether or not to hold these games. Bach Thomas Bach replied that it would be irresponsible to set a date for decision or to decide at present due to uncertainties caused by the crisis. When asked if it would be feasible to hold these games in the summer of 2021 or 2022, Bach Thomas said that the IOC was considering different possibilities.
