Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike has said he is keeping a close eye on the corona virus infection situation in the capital and will consider measures related to the central government’s “Go to Travel” national tourism campaign. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike told reporters on Saturday that the metropolitan government had sent a request to the relevant ministries and agencies to provide information on the details of the temporary suspension of the campaign. She said she would consider what to do after receiving the response. The central government has temporarily excluded Osaka and Sapporo from the “go to travel” campaign. The corona virus is re-emerging in both cities. The central government says it will decide how to deal with other cities at the request of governors. Yuriko Koike has so far maintained that the Tokyo government is not in a position to ask the central government to temporarily suspend the campaign for the capital. He told reporters yesterday that the suspension of the nationwide tourism campaign should take into account both commuters in and out of the city and therefore the central government should decide.
