Supreme Court seeks reply from Uttarakhand government over threat to Muslims by Hindu extremist leader in IndiaAccording to Indian media; a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana in the Supreme Court heard the case of hate speech in Haridwar. During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner pointed out to the court that the court had directed to appoint an officer to take action against such gatherings, but so far no officer has been appointed by the government. The government is not complying with court orders. The court has given 10 days to the Uttarakhand government to file a reply. During the hearing, the petitioner said that the matter was very serious and such gatherings were being held again and again. The next program of Hindu extremists will be held on January 24 in Aligarh, so the court should fix the next hearing before the date. It may be recalled that the leaders participating in the Dharam Sansad, a gathering of Hindu extremists of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haridwar city, had incited Hindus to take up arms against Muslims. Addressing the gathering, Hindu extremist leader Yati Narsinghanand had said that a large and armed Hindu brigade was the best solution to deal with the Muslims.
