Yangon … News Time

Myanmar police pounced on demonstrators protesting against the rebel army. Large commercial city Yangon in Myanmar on Friday, police also run a direct shot at the demonstrators with tear gas shelling. Several people were injured, including two children playing outside. According to media reports, the detainees included a Japanese journalist, who was released four hours later. In Mandalay, another major city, 30 people were arrested during the operation. Witnesses said police did not release passersby during the operation and detained the young man on a bicycle. Officers also opened fire with rubber bullets during the crackdown.

It may be recalled that the puppets of the army who overthrew the government in a mutiny the previous day had attacked the protesters and subjected them to inhumane torture. Clashes broke out between supporters and opponents of the army at various locations, during which thugs attacked protesters with iron rods and knives. During the raids by supporters of the dictatorship, the police remained silent spectators and did not even try to stop the armed riots. The gunmen also held banners expressing solidarity with the army and slogans against the people’s government.
