Since the resolution was approved, the US president would not be able to take military action against Iran without the approval of the Senate. According to a foreign news agency, 55 votes were voted in favor of the resolution in the Senate, while 45 in the opposition, 8 Republican senators also voted in favor of the resolution.

According to the resolution, the US president will have to get approval from Congress for any military action in the war against Iran; in addition, US troops involved in the offensive will have to be called back. Earlier, US President Donald Trump had asked the Senate not to approve a resolution restricting his authority to allow war against Iran. President Trump said in one of his tweets that the ratification of the resolution would be a very bad signal to Iran and he would continue to act without exception.
