Richard Grenell will be Acting Director of National Intelligence

Washington … News Time

US President Donald Trump has announced Richard Grenell to be the head of national intelligence. He was an American diplomat stationed in Germany for the past two years. Richard Grenell will now replace Joseph Maguire as the head of national intelligence following the announcement of the US president. In a tweet, President Trump wrote of his decision, writing that I am happy to announce. That Richard Grenell, our respected diplomat for Germany, will be the Acting Director of National Intelligence. They represent our country very well and I look forward to working with them.

Richard Grenell is a staunch supporter of Trump’s ideology, and his establishment in Germany has been a highlight for local politicians. US diplomats are known for their temper tantrums that continue to support the US President. And they did not waste any opportunity to complain against Berlin. He accused Germany of taking a “hypocritical” approach to NATO reforms that Washington intended to spend two percent of its total output is not being met. Richard Grenell also criticized German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s policies on refugees and also criticized the German government for developing its 5G network from Chinese communications company Hawaii.

With such criticism of everything, according to the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, he became known in Berlin as an unwanted figure. And one of the local politicians even demanded that they be expelled from the country. Richard Grenell has long played a role in America’s foreign policy. He has been an advisor to several Republican politicians and during George Bush’s tenure as the US ambassador to the United States, John Bolton. Since Grenell’s appointment will be the acting head of the National Intelligence, it does not need confirmation from the Senate.

Mark Warner, the Democratic Senator and the Minority Leader in the Intelligence Committee, says that instead of making Richard Grenell a permanent director, Trump wants to keep the Senate isolated who has the right to constitutionally advise and approve the appointment of key issues such as national security. The head of National Intelligence was appointed after the terrorist attacks in the US on September 11, 2001. Under this post, there are 17 military and civilian intelligence agencies, including the CIA.
