The United States clarified its decision not to invite Pakistan to the environmental summit. On not inviting Pakistan to the Leaders’ Summit on the Environment, the State Department said the purpose of the meeting was to encourage 80% of global emission and major economies responsible for global GDP. The State Department spokesman said the Leader’s Summit was just one of several important environmental events ahead of the UN-sponsored conference on climate change in November. Responding to a question from foreign media via email, the State Department spokesman said that we are committed to working with Pakistan and other governments to advance global goals to address environmental challenges.

It should be noted that the United States had ignored Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate environmental pollution at the international level. According to media reports, a global summit on climate change is being held in the United States next month in which President Joe Biden has sent invitations to the heads of 40 countries. The leaders of Pakistan’s neighboring countries India, China and Bangladesh were also invited to the summit but surprisingly Pakistan was not invited to the summit. According to reports, Special Assistant Amin Aslam said that Pakistan was not among the two categories due to which the invitation was not received. The Foreign Ministry has been tasked to explain the summit. An online meeting on climate change will be hosted by US President Joe Biden on April 22-23.

US President Joe Biden has invited about 40 world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, to attend a summit on proposed climate change in April. According to the White House, the summit will be held online on April 22 and 23. It is hoped that the meeting will help pave the way for efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate eco-friendly measures. US President Joe Biden has invited the leaders of Saudi Arabia, India and Turkey, including the German chancellor, the French president and the British prime minister, to the summit.
