Turkey installed a US air defense system after its troops were killed in the Syrian northwestern city of Idlib. Turkey installs a mid-range American-made MIM-23 Hawk air defense system (MIM-23 Hawk) after 36 soldiers were killed in an attack in Idlib February 27, according to news agencies. According to local media, the measures have been taken by the Ankara government following intense tensions in Idlib last week. In this regard, officials say that after the installation of the US Air Defense system, the Turkish army will no longer need to rely on its personnel or drones to kill Syrian warships.

On the other hand, a number of prisoners escaped during a riot at a prison in Ghuwayran, in the Syrian northeastern city of Hasakah. Massive riots broke out in Hasakah’s jail on Sunday, according to news agencies. According to Kurdish authorities, the prisoners regained control of the lower floor of the prison, and during the chaos and violence many prisoners managed to escape. A prison administrator Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) spokesman confirmed in his Twitter statement that the prisoners broke open the door after gaining control of a portion of the prison, after which they escaped; however, forces have launched raids to search for them. Mustafa Bali also said that the authorities had to call on a special anti-terrorism force to regain control of the jail.
