The Indian National Congress, the largest opposition party in India, has rejected the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s move on the status of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders of Congress attended the meeting convened on the issue of Occupied Kashmir. Indian media says leaders participating in this important meeting have rejected BJP’s conspiracy. That no government has the power to change the status of occupied Kashmir. Indian National Congress says Lok Sabha by ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rajya Sabha adopted a unilateral, arrogant and completely undemocratic approach to the Kashmir problem. The statement issued after the Congress meeting states that the division of occupied Kashmir and any part of it does not have the right to be kept under the federal territory (union territory).

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also criticized by the Modi government for unilateral decision on Kashmir yesterday. That eliminating the special status of Kashmir will have serious consequences. In one of his tweets, he said that the nation is made up of individuals rather than one-sided pieces of land, imprison elected representatives and deviate from the constitution. Rahul Gandhi added that misuse of executive powers poses a serious threat to India’s national security. He said that unilaterally splitting Kashmir would not strengthen India’s national solidarity.

Earlier, the Congress, the largest opposition party in India, declared the abolition of Article 370 by the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the special status of Kashmir as the black day of the country’s constitutional history. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram speaks to the media in Delhi that the abolition of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is a dark day in the constitutional history of India and the beginning of fragmentation of the country.
