Where was the blast?

On February 18, 2007, a bomb blast took place at Haryana’s Panipat in Samjhauta Express between Lahore and Delhi. In which a total of 68 people were killed, including 43 Pakistani and 10 Indian civilians while 15 people were unable to identify, the dead were 64 passengers and 4 were from the railway. According to the National Investigation Agency of India, 10 people including 10 Pakistanis were injured in a terrorist attack as a result of the explosion; several coaches of the train were burnt. According to the Indian media, the Haryana police initially registered an FIR but the Ministry of Interior moved the National Investigation Agency in case of this attack in 2010. The first charge sheet was filed in June 2011, after which two side charging sheets were filed respectively in August 2012 and June 2013.

What happened in the initial investigation?

Initial investigation revealed that at 11.53 minutes, the explosive materials and fireworks fired fire in two trains coming out of the Dewana railway station of Panipat. In the investigation report, 16 coaches containing Attari Express departed from Delhi to Attari on 10.00 minutes and it blasts between Panipat and Dewana. According to the report, 4 coaches of 16 were allocated for second class labor while the blast occurred in two coaches who were not allotted where 4 IEDs were installed; as a result, two coaches were injured while two IEDs were recovered later.

Who was the trial suspect?

The blast was imposed on 8 people, out of whom 4 only encountered the cases, in the case; the main accused was Swami Aseemanand alias Nabha Kumar Sarkar, which was given in 2015 by Punjab and Haryana High Court. Three other accused are in judicial custody in Kamal Chauhan, Rajender Chaudhary and Lokesh Sharma Central Ambala Jail. While three suspects, Amit Chauhan, Ramachandra Kalasangra and Sandeep Dange were declared as an accused in the trial. However, the National Investigation Agency was declared mastermind another suspect Sunil Joshi was killed in Madhya Pradesh in December 2007.

It is noteworthy that the main accused of this case is Swami Aseemanand, the MQI blast in Hyderabad district and the blast in Ajmer Darga. There were about 299 Witnesses in the trial. 13 of those witnesses were from Pakistan, but 13 were not present in court while in 2013 many Witnesses were confused with their statement. Last year, the special judge of the trial, expressed his disappointment over the slow progress of the trial despite a trial every day a day, the prosecution only offers one or two witnesses on fixed dates. Up to the beginning of the trial, 8 judges have already heard it and now in the case of the hearing of rap and murder cases, the CBI special judge judge Jagdeep Singh is hearing the case in August 2018. But most of the statements of Witnesses were already written before their appointment.
