It is as if for the first time someone is threatening resignations from the assemblies and a long march towards Islamabad or Rawalpindi.
Nowadays, when I listen to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, I remember Qazi Hussain Ahmed. Qazi Sahib also wanted to resign from the assemblies in 2007 but at that time Maulana Sahib thought that the resignations should be submitted to the party leadership. Do not give to the speaker. Qazi Sahib was the President of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Maulana Sahib was the Secretary General. Then it happened that on July 24, 2007, Qazi Hussain Ahmed sent his resignation to the Speaker of the National Assembly and Maulana Sahib termed this step of Qazi Hussain Ahmed as a violation of MMA discipline. Despite this difference of opinion, the relationship of respect between Qazi Sahib and Maulana Sahib remained intact. The two discouraged militancy during a very difficult time and in response both faced suicide attacks. Those who today are calling the PDM a foreign conspiracy and some of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statements the result of closeness to Mahmood Achakzai, forget that in 2007 Mahmood Achakzai, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Imran Khan They were part of the same alliance called the All Parties Democratic Movement and from the platform of this alliance, what Maulana Hussain-ur-Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed used to say about the people of Rawalpindi is being said by Maulana Fazlur Rehman after 14 years ۔ I can’t forget these things. This was a time when Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were living in exile for a long time. Their absence created a political vacuum. At the same time, we jumped from print media to electronic media.
Imran Khan became a member of the National Assembly from Mianwali with great difficulty in 2002 and those close to him included Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Qazi Hussain Ahmed. These were the people who spoke harshly about the military’s involvement in politics. Javed Hashmi was also charged with treason at that time but the harsh statements of Imran Khan and Qazi Hussain Ahmed were ignored. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was still the Federal Minister. He would have called Imran Khan the captain of the Tanga party but would not have spoken harshly about Qazi Sahib. The reason was that Pervez Musharraf avoided opening many political fronts at once. When Qazi Hussain Ahmed used the term Royal Pakistan Army for the Pakistan Army, General Musharraf was advised to take action against Qazi Sahib. Musharraf ignored the advice. He started trying to break Jamaat-e-Islami from within. Recently, memoirs of Syed Munawar Hassan, former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, have been published. Syed Munawar Hassan recorded these memoirs in his life to Ata Muhammad Tabassum.
The memo reveals that General Pervez Musharraf personally met former Karachi mayor Nematullah Khan and tried to separate him from the Jamaat-e-Islami but failed. Qazi Hussain Ahmed was the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami for 22 years and Syed Munawar Hassan was its secretary general for 16 years. In these memoirs, Syed Munawar Hassan said a lot without saying anything and also exposed the conspiracy to bring a no-confidence motion against Qazi Hussain Ahmed from within the Jamaat-e-Islami. Now these two elders are no more in the world but I cannot break the promise made to them. However, I cannot live without giving credit to Syed Munawar Hassan for his intellectual integrity and political intelligence. He politely made the story of the failed revolt against Qazi Hussain Ahmed from within the Jamaat-e-Islami part of history. When you read this story, you will think that nowadays the same story is being repeated in Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Keep in mind 5, 10 years later, even from within the JUI, some Syed Munawar Hassan will unveil a Pervez Musharraf of 2021 and some historian will also write that by breaking political parties and setting up treason cases against politicians, Pakistan Not strong but weak. Qazi Hussain Ahmed passed away on January 6, 2013 and his book was published in 2009, a few months after he resigned from the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. In the book, he admitted that we accepted Musharraf in uniform through the 17th Amendment because he had promised to take off his uniform by December 31, 2004, but when he broke that promise, Parliament and the judiciary could do nothing. Qazi Sahib was in favor of coming out of this helpless parliament but Maulana Fazlur Rehman was doing in the name of wisdom what Asif Zardari is doing nowadays. In 2021, Maulana Sahib has become Qazi Hussain Ahmed and is doing the same things that Qazi Sahib used to do 14 years ago. Qazi Sahib had written on page 160 of the same book that now there was no other way but for all the opposition parties to launch a massive mass movement for the restoration of constitutional institutions and an end to military intervention?
