Tehran … News Time

Protests have begun in several cities in Iran over petrol price hikes. According to reports, on November 15th, the Iranian government had set a quota for the acquisition of energy products, in addition to raising gasoline prices by 50%.According to media reports; the government has increased the price of petrol from 10 thousand rials per liter to 15 thousand rials per liter. This price equals 12.7 US cents. At the same time, each private car will be provided a maximum of only 60 liters of gasoline per month. If more gasoline was purchased, the price would be 30,000 rials per liter.

It is clear that petrol and gas is so abundant in Iran that Iran also exports these products but with the US imposing additional sanctions on Iran, Iran also has to raise prices for goods produced within its own country. This has triggered protests across the country, and Iranian police have had to use teargas against protesters.

America’s attitude toward Iran is very contentious anyway, because former US President Barack Obama signed a nuclear deal with Iran. Current President Donald Trump unilaterally terminated the deal, even though Iran had clearly stated that he did not want to build nuclear weapons. But also wants to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes only and to reduce energy shortages. But President Trump took advantage of his position to try to stop Iran’s abuses. Parliamentary elections are due in Iran in February, while inflation has saved the public.

The value of the Iranian rial has dropped and unemployment is on the rise. Iran’s 8 million populations are suffering due to US sanctions. U.S and Western countries should end sanctions on Iran. In Iran, because of sanctions, the public is facing trouble, so creating anxiety is a must. In Iraq, the public is constantly protesting against rising inflation and unemployment. Considering the fact, the situation in Iraq is responsible for the worsening of the situation on US and its competitors. Iraq was a prosperous country, but the US invaded and spread destruction.
