Myanmar’s rebel forces took to the streets to crush protesters. According to news agencies, the puppets of the army who overthrew the government in a coup d’etat attacked the protesters and brutally tortured them. Clashes broke out between supporters and opponents of the army at various locations, with military thugs torturing protesters with iron rods and knives. During the raids by supporters of the dictatorship in Yangon, the police remained silent spectators and did not try to stop the armed riots. Meanwhile, gunmen also held banners with slogans expressing solidarity with the army and against the people’s government. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Thursday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. According to international media, protesters in several cities, including the capital, staged peaceful protests, which the police and army tried to turn violent.

On the other hand, the social networking site Facebook has banned the accounts of the Myanmar army. A Facebook spokesman said military accounts had been shut down in the country as military coups and violence escalated. In these circumstances, it is very dangerous to allow the military leadership to use Facebook and Instagram. Military leadership, as well as military subsidiaries and supporting companies, have been banned. Earlier, Facebook banned several Myanmar military pages. In 2018, Facebook froze the accounts of the army’s most senior general, Min Aung Hlaing, and other top officials. General Min Aung Hlaing is also prominent in ousting Aung San Suu Kyi’s government on February 1 this year. After seizing power, the military government tried to shut down Facebook in the country, but failed.
