Kosovo’s resigned President Hashim Thaci has been jailed after being arrested in The Hague last evening. He is accused of committing war crimes during the war with Serbian forces. An international tribunal was set up to investigate his alleged war crimes and recently ordered his arrest. Kosovo’s special court in The Hague has said in a statement that the former Kosovo Liberation Army political leader, who has been in power for more than 10 years, was detained along with three other suspects in a Dutch court’s “detention center”. Hashim Thaci, 52, resigned from the presidency on Thursday to defend the dignity of the president and the people of Kosovo. Other suspects include Jakup Krasniqi, a former spokesman for the Koswar militia who is one of Taji’s closest political allies, and Kadri Veseli, the former director of intelligence in the former militia, as well as Rajab; a former prominent figure includes Rexhep Selimi. All four are accused of being responsible for 100 acts of mass murder, violence and persecution between March 1998 and September 1999.
