Japan, UK Foreign and Defense Ministers will meet in next month

Tokyo … News Time

Japan and Britain’s Foreign Minister and Defense are preparing to meet in London next month to discuss security cooperation including North Korea. Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Defense Minister Tsunori Onodera intend to meet British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Defense Minister Gavin Williamson on 14th December. It is expected that both countries will agree to increase pressure on North Korea. Japan will reiterate its position that the development of North Korea’s nuclear experiments and internationally-equipped ballistic missiles is a threat to the entire international community. It is also expected that Japan will inform Britain that spreading China’s naval activities in open seas and uniform measures to change the situation are unacceptable. Japan is also reluctant to talk about security issues. The joint exercises between Japan’s Bad Self Defense Force and the British Army in December 2018, and preparation of defense equipment including fighter ships will also be involved in the negotiation agenda.
