An Iraqi court has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump on charges of killing Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Major General Qasem Soleimani, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, commander of the Iraqi militia, were killed in a US airstrike near an airport in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in January last year. Foreign news agency AFP quoted Iraqi media as saying that after the deaths of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Donald Trump had said that two men were killed at one price. An Iraqi court has ruled that an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump is issued under Section 406 of the Penal Code. The court said that preliminary investigations have been completed but investigations are underway to expose other culprits in the case, whether Iraqi or foreign.

On the other hand, Iran has once again requested Interpol to issue “red warrants” against 48 US officials, including Donald Trump, for the assassination of Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani. Regarding the red notice, Iranian judiciary spokesman Ghulam Hussein Ismaili said during a press conference that Iran had requested the International Police Organization to arrest Donald Trump and 47 other US officials. This is the second time Iran has applied for an international arrest warrant for Donald Trump and dozens of US officials. However, France-based Interpol rejected Iran’s request, saying its constitution prohibits any political, military, religious or ethnic character from interfering or engaging in activities. An Iranian court later ruled that an Iranian citizen who provided information to US and Israeli intelligence services about the slain Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleimani would be executed soon. It should be noted that Qasem Soleimani’s death was accused by the United States of being the mastermind of Iranian-backed militias in attacks on US forces in the region. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has appointed his deputy, Ismail Qaani, as head of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force following the death of General Qasem Soleimani.
