A high-level delegation of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has arrived in Cairo on a special visit to Egypt. According to Al Arabiya sources, the purpose of the Hamas delegation’s visit is to reduce the ongoing tensions with Egypt and to advance the reconciliation process between the Palestinian factions. Egyptian sources said Cairo had expressed concerns about the organization’s proximity to Turkey during meetings with a Hamas delegation. Sources say that Cairo has told Hamas that Turkey must refrain from interfering in the tasks assigned to Egypt. Egyptian officials have made it clear to Hamas leaders that Egypt’s role in the Palestinian cause cannot be ignored. Cairo officials say they will take steps to make efforts to exchange prisoners between Hamas and Israel a success.

On the other hand, Hamas sources say that the party has sent several messages to Egypt. These include assurances of consultation with the Egyptian government on important issues and assistance from the Egyptian government in dealing with the Corona in the Gaza Strip. On August 22, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political wing, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a visit to Turkey. The meeting was attended by Turkish Intelligence Chief Hakan Fidan, Fakhretdin Altun, and Assistant to the President for Communications, and Ibrahim Kalin, Spokesman for the Presidency. On this occasion, Ismail Haniyeh congratulated the Turkish President on the beginning of the new Islamic year and the discovery of new natural resources in Turkey.
